How do you know if there is acid in your nail product?
To categorize nail products as acid-free, an important criterion is the absence of acidic ingredients. A verification can easily be done using the INCI list.
Acidic ingredients, known for their corrosive effect on both skin and nails, are usually found in gels that chemically etch or roughen the nail surface. This creates microscopic abrasions for better adhesion. Although this process improves adhesion, it can weaken natural nails over time. Therefore, we do not recommend using standard acid if it is not at all necessary for your client's nail type.
Advantages of acid-free gels such as B System?
Gels containing no acid have 3 main benefits:
- Promote growth: acid-free gels promote natural nail growth without making nails thinner or weaker.
- Effortless removal: the removal process is quick and uncomplicated ánd the absence of acid prevents problems linked to gels containing acid.
- No pungent smell during treatment: the smell of acid can be unpleasant.
Disadvantages of acid-free gels
Despite the potential benefits of acid-based gels, there are also significant drawbacks.
These gels can risk weakening natural nails over time. Removing them can also be a challenge, often leading to overfilling and thinning. An additional problem is the pungent odor released during application and removal. This is not pleasant for either you or your clients.
Checking for acid content in LED gels
When looking for acid-free LED gels, careful examination of the product label and packaging is crucial. The INCI list, with ingredients listed in decreasing concentration, is a valuable resource.
Products explicitly labeled "acid-free" provide a clear indication of their composition. In cases where clarity is lacking, direct communication with the supplier is recommended to ensure accurate information.
Furthermore, the stability of acid-free gels is remarkable, as they usually maintain a consistent composition, reducing the risk of separation of pigments in the bottle. This ensures a reliable and user-friendly experience for nail technicians and clients alike.
Because you don't need acid for every client

Do you have greasy nails? Then you can opt for the universal primer anyway. But don’t choose for a universal primer by default!
